.Listen.

What are you listening in those little head phones person I pass by everyday? What music is making your blood pump through your veins, memories flash in and out of your mind like a yellow yield light.

Are you happy, or sad or even listening to when I say hi? Do you hear the banging of plates from the Kebab place on the corner? How about the whispered rumors from the two middle aged Irish women you just passed. They were talking about the bloke that spilled his coffee on Mrs. Jamer’s cat last Christmas, I guess he was attractive.

I hear a haunting sound coming from the Dublin Castle on Dame Street, I saw in the paper they were having a medieval fair on Tuesday, children in for free. I wonder if you know that seven taxi cabs just honked at the same time…because they almost just hit you on the cross walk.

That guy over by the post box is playing a heavy beat on an Irish bodhran, his seven year old son is rattling a Starbucks cup full of pennies and a few euros. Shhh, a baby is crying from an apartment building above. Another cross walk, this time the button is pushed. Don’t you think the sound of the button sounds like a sprinkler? Reminds me of summer when I was 11, my dad put it out in the side yard as me and my friends ran through it laughing. I miss my dad. Hey, are you listening?

Sometimes it would be nice to take those earbuds out of your ears, and listen to the music life is playing around you.
